Salary: $40-$46 per hour

We are seeking a positive, motivated and team-oriented Registered Dental Hygienist at our Anson Family Dentistry office in Wadesboro, NC!

 

Job Summary:

 

The duties of a Dental Hygienist are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental field. The ideal dental hygienist candidate will have the ability to perform many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.

 

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Frequent and thorough schedule review to ensure patients are seen on-time as scheduled.
  • Invitingly welcoming patients into the treatment area.
  • Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Appointment que next hygiene visit prior to escorting patients to the front.
  • Review treatment needed and answer any questions prior to walking up patients.
  • Create treatment plans and label order of treatment.            
  • Perform routine dental cleanings and assist in the performance of more complicated surgical procedures.                                                
  • Accurately review charts the day before the patient arrives.                                     
  • Maintain adequate operatory supplies and compile lists for inventory control and ordering purposes.                                                   
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
    (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Setup Hygiene or Op room prior to patient arriving.  
  • Taking and developing dental radiographs (if certified).
  • Assisting with extractions, sealants, fillings, and pulp therapy procedures.
  • Monitoring nitrous oxide (if certified).
  • Coronal Polishing necessary patients (if certified).
  • Applying fluoride.  
  • Root planting 
  • Taking initiative with any additional responsibilities the Office Coordinator may assign.
  • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.                        
  • Review oral hygiene instructions with patient/parents.
  • Assist doctor with operative treatment and hospital cases when scheduled in OP/OR.
  • Maintain care of units (flush lines, fill H20 bottles, place tablet in H20, change traps).
  • Creating T bands, hygiene patient bags, and extraction bags.
  • Scale when necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Successful completion of a dental hygienist licensing program as per state guidelines.
  • Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist along with scaling and root planting experience.
  • Additional certification or training is an asset. 

 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of computer programs such as MS Office.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

 

The ability to effectively work as a team member, function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative, be flexible to shift priorities, maintain patient confidentiality and establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships is required.
