Title: Housekeeping Assistant

Department: Environmental Services

Qualifications: 1. High School diploma preferred.


2. Job related experience preferred but not required.

3. Interest in housekeeping skills and procedures necessary.

4. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to communicate with residents required.

5. Ability to perform assigned tasks to a high degree of excellence, and cleanliness required.

6. Respect for residents’ privacy and rights for respect and dignity necessary.

7. Physical stamina for constant activity required.

  1. Job Duties:

  2. Maintain cleanliness of general areas and assigned rooms of residents as follows:
  1. Vacuum, mop, wax, and buff tile floors using proper procedures and appropriate equipment and solution.
  1. Vacuum, wet vacuum and extract carpeted flooring.
  1. Clean bathrooms completely by disinfecting, scouring, and polishing fixtures and replenishing paper product supplies.
  1. Clean furniture, windowsills, doors, frames, baseboards, stairwells, light fixtures, fans, sprinkler heads, and handrails using appropriate materials and solutions.
  1. Clean and disinfect bed mattresses and frames. (If applicable).
  1. Empty and remove trash from wastebaskets.
  1. Take down and rehang draperies, as required.
  1. Keep lounges picked up and in order throughout workday.
  1. Wash windows and window screens periodically.
  1. Clean ceiling tiles and ceiling strips.
  1. Report any needed repairs in building or furnishings to supervisor.
  1. Help move personal belongings of residents and cleans and disinfects floor, furniture, bed and bathroom according to accepted procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room.
  1. Practice infection control principles in cleaning methods and personal hygiene.
  1. Collect and dispose of trash and other refuse in such a manner that prevents the transmission of disease and does not create a nuisance or fire hazard, nor a breeding place for insects and rodents.

Must Be available weekends and holidays.
