Welcome to Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo, where fun meets cleanliness! We're a vibrant waterpark dedicated to providing exhilarating experiences to our guests. As an integral part of our team, custodians play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our facility.

LOCATION: Primarily stationed at the Hattiesburg Zoo and seasonally stationed at Serengeti Springs Waterpark.

SHIFT: Full-time; Varies may include holidays and weekends

SUMMARY: This position requires a proactive approach to cleanliness, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform routine cleaning tasks throughout the waterpark, including but not limited to:
• Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, changing rooms, and shower areas
• Emptying trash receptacles and replacing liners
• Wiping down surfaces such as countertops, tables, and benches
• Refilling soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers
• Notes and reports and building components in need of repair.
• Makes minor repairs such as painting, patching, replacement of light fixtures, and filters as required.
• Makes daily inspection of areas of responsibility before meeting with manager or supervisor.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness standards in all areas of the waterpark, including pools, slides, dining areas, and walkways.
• Assists other facility personnel as directed.
• Carries an operational two-way radio or pager at all times.
• Advises manager or supervisor immediately of any damages resulting from an event.
• Follow established procedures for handling and disposing of waste and hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for special events, parties, or other functions held within the waterpark.
• Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor while interacting with guests and colleagues.
• Performs other duties, functions and special projects as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Work Experience

• Two years experience with cleaning of a public assembly facility or a related industry. Formal training in current janitorial procedures and practices preferred.
• Combination of education/experience may be evaluated.

Essential Job Qualifications
• Must retain a valid Driver’s License and meet the eligibility requirements to drive while conducting company business.
• Must have transportation for required travel.
• Able to see well enough to read fine print such as labels.
• Able to speak and hear well enough to converse in person and on telephone.
• Body mobility and stamina to bend, squat, lift, reach, carry, stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 20lbs.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate small tools.
• Tolerance to work under adverse conditions such as among dust, dirt, and cleaning agent odors and outdoors in heat and cold.
• Must be able to follow instructions.
