Road Machinery & Supplies Co. is searching for a Mobile Lube Technician to join its team in the Virginia, MN area. In this role, you will be servicing, inspecting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on construction and mining equipment. Work is to take place in both shop and field. The right candidate must be willing to work flexible hours with 24 hours’ notice from a supervisor; this is to include weekends and after-hours services. Some overnight travel will be required. Must always conduct business in a courteous and professional manner. Must be self-directed and capable of working alone in a safe manner. Will be expected to perform duties in an orderly and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on all brands and types of heavy equipment.
  • Take, prepare, and submit fluid samples with accuracy.
  • Inspect equipment utilizing both paper and mobile app inspections.
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment found during inspection, with customer approval.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and diagnostics as needed, communicate findings, and make necessary repairs.
  • Test equipment after Preventative Maintenance and minor repairs are completed to ensure proper performance and compliance has been achieved.
  • Writeup work orders at the end of each shift or job.
  • Maintain Communication between customers and internal RMS departments in order to complete work and grow service labor sales.
  • Utilize various computer programs and OEM software along with RMS resources to complete jobs, utilizing operator manuals, technical drawings, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
  • Maintain company service vehicle, inventory, tools, and equipment adhering to DOT and MSHA compliance.
  • Keep updated with knowledge of RMS and competitor products through vendor, internal, and online training.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience in hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting, strong mechanical aptitude, and repair of heavy construction equipment are required.
  • Skilled in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Possess a current valid CDL driver’s license with a clean record, and the ability to successfully pass drug and fitness for duty tests.
  • Able to complete required documentation, reports, and repairs in a timely manner exceeding deadlines while utilizing general computer applications.
  • Demonstrates openness to new procedures, technology, and structure with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule as needed with some overnight travel.
  • Able to work responsibly, safely, and intelligently.
  • Have the desire to take action, improve, and be appreciative.
  • Possess the capability to engage and communicate with customers, co-workers, and vendors in a respectful and professional manner.
