PF SPAM, LLC owns and operates grocery stores in south Louisiana and Mississippi.  We are actively searching for talented, reliable, trustworthy Assistant Managers that can assist our Store Managers in the general management duties and to share responsibility for the grocery store's operation and performance. To coordinate and direct the overall operations of the store in the absence of the Store Manager. Our company has locations in Slidell, Bay St. Louis, Long Beach and Gulfport and we are eager to grow our management teams with team members that enjoy doing good work!

The essential duties and responsibilities of an Assistant Manager include, but are not limited to, the following: 

 - observe and enforce all store rules and company policies;
 - actively support the Store Manager in the fulfillment of his/her responsibilities;

 - maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times to set a standard for others and enforce company dress code policy;

 - encourage and promote exception customer relations by greeting customers, staying alert and observant, handling customer complaints, and ensuring all staff members provide customers with prompt and courteous service;

 - share in the responsibility for cash accountability and accuracy of store bookkeeping;

 - responsible for ensuring all employees comply with company cash and check handling policies, procedures and limits;

 - ensure product rotation procedures are rigidly observed and merchandise is of optimum freshness and quality;

 - ensure all merchandise is properly priced and price changes implemented in a timely manager;

 - implement the highest standards in housekeeping to ensure a clean and safety store for all;

 - assure safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a store manager of any potential hazard immediately; 
 - participate in the store safety meetings, company safety committees, and ensure that all personnel are safety-conscious, and adhere to the safe method of performing duties;

 - show a stable work and/or educational history;

 - possess the math skills necessary to supervise and handle sales transactions, tender change, verify vendor invoice charges and      counts, calculate gross margins, percentages and ad losses, create operating budgets, make financial forecasts and projections, calculate productivity yardsticks such as sales per man hour, evaluate inventory reports to implement corrective measures if required, and analyze receiving logs;

- follow directions, be hospitable to co-workers, vendors, and customers;
- assist customers with purchases and/or carrying/loading of groceries, etc.;

- comply with company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, Drug and Alcohol Policy, Harassment Policy, Employee Conduct and Safety Policies;

  - must be able to perform the physical functions of the job.  Working in any one of our positions requires reaching, pulling, heavy lifting, long hours standing on tile/concrete, walking, climbing, and work in various weather/temperatures/humidity levels.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

The requirements and conditions listed below are representative of the minimum levels of knowledge, skill, experience, and/or ability required. Some requirements may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities:

 

  • Minimum educational requirement is a high school education with a college background helpful and preferred, but not required;
  • 3 years’ experience in the supermarket industry with successful participation in a management training program or 5 years’ experience coupled with active participation in a concurrent management training program; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of store management and operations;
  • experience in handling personnel relations or human resource management; some academic exposure or background in this area also desirable but not required.

 

Must have the ability to obtain a Responsible Vendor Server Permit within 45 days of hire date.
