Carolina Ale House is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to join our team!


Position Summary

Plan, direct and oversee all operations including managing staff, ensuring product and service standards are met and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency. Responsible for the administration, sales, profitability, safety, staffing and training of a department in the restaurant. Oversee the department to include guest relations, supervision of all staff and staffing levels, proper restaurant ambience, housekeeping, set-up, food & beverage quality, safety and pace.


Essential Duties

• Determine staff needs and recruit staff
• Set objectives and targets for the restaurant in coordination with the General Manager
• Ensure opening, shift change and closing checklist are completed
• Ensure training standards are followed
• Select, develop and retain highly skilled hourly employees
• Uphold all company values and standards at all times
• Ensure guest satisfaction through interaction
• Prepare reports as needed
• Communicate effectively with staff, guests and other members of management
• Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed
• Ensure the safety of employees and guests at all times
• Control costs through selective purchasing and accurate inventories
• Create schedules
• Set and monitor quality and service standards for staff
• Communicate company policy, standards and procedures to staff
• Direct and manage staff members to meet standards and objectives
• Ensure staff operate within company policies
• Promote and practice compliance with fire, health, safety and hygiene standards and
regulations
• Monitor and order supplies
• Liaise with suppliers and sales representatives
• Confirm that procurement of supplies is on the best possible terms
• Make certain all deliveries are checked in correctly and documentation is correct
• Check stock is correctly rotated and stored to reduce wastage
• Oversee the bar display to maximize functionality and attractiveness
• Set, monitor and control budget for the beverage unit/bar
• Plan and implement cost control measures
• Plan and implement systems to maximize sales and revenue
• Organize promotional activities
• Stay current with relevant legislation regarding service of alcohol, sale of tobacco and
licensing
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or requested
