Job Description

The Shift Quality Technician is integral to the production of quality products at Leigh Fibers. This individual performs standardized quality-control tests and audits of our manufacturing processes and products that meet internal and external customer quality expectations.

To ensure success candidates must have a strong working knowledge of mathematical concepts, excellent visual awareness, and the ability to efficiently monitor the integrity and quality of products without impeding production rates. In addition, they will have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience as an inspector or quality technician is a plus.


Job Responsibilities

  • Promoting a Safety Culture in the workplace by complying with established safety and environmental policies, programs, and procedures. Policies include utilizing personal protective equipment, safe operation of golf carts and other motorized equipment, the ability to follow standard procedures requiring flammability testing, and recognition of potential hazards.
  • Ensuring test equipment calibration and operations.
  • Inspecting and testing products produced to meet applicable standards and specifications.
  • Recommend improvements to processes to ensure process and product are in control.
  • Documentation of audit and testing results in associated reporting systems.
  • Identify, tag, and reject non-conforming products at the line and within the warehouse.
  • Willingness to teach production team members about quality control concerns to improve products.
  • Assist quality and process teams with special testing, auditing, or documentation of trials as needed.
  • Resolve quality-related issues in a timely and effective manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency working with MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization including operators, leads, supervisors, engineers, and other leaders.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to conduct and document process audits, quality audits, and lab testing across multiple departments with minimal supervision.
  • Able to safely lift to 50 pounds.
  • Able to safely work in a moderately conditioned, industrial process manufacturing environment

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience as a quality technician is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of operations experience.
  • Excellent numerical skills.
