Training Specialist

The ideal candidate should have the following attributes and/or skills:

  • BS degree in Education, Training, or related field to the training subject or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (Bilingual preferred).
  • Strong Communication Skills-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent written communication and editing skills.
  • Intellectual Skills-Solid ability to understand and assess processes requests and needs and to identify pertinent information and create documents that present the relevant information clearly and succinctly.
  • Organizational Skills-Ability to meet demanding timelines and flexibility to accommodate the "unplanned".
  • Collaboration-Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues; Ability to influence and drive new ideas.
  • Results-Oriented-Self-starter, with an enthusiastic and proactive style; comfortable with a driven deadline environment.
  • Proficiency with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques.
  • Experience with training and development training methods and training evaluations process.
  • Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
  • Proficient with the use of a computer and productivity software including all aspects of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple activities.
  • Expertise in production processes (Injection Molding, Paint shop, Exterior and interior assembly).
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Authoring Technologies- knowledge of authoring technologies, intranet design tools, and multimedia applications. This is a plus.

Main Duties

  • Train all the new team members (Temporary and direct hires) on the DOJO/OJT training process on different shifts. Create and optimize DOJO training material as well as develop and continually improve the orientation program provided in the DOJO/OJT training.
  • Develop evaluations and Assessments according to SMP requirements. Manage assessment records for all team members completing the DOJO training. Create fast tracks and assign trainees to the right area according to the identified basic skills.
  • Design, plan, organize, and conduct direct orientation and DOJO/OJT training for new temporary and SMP employees.
  • Develop and continually improve the training DOJO/OJT areas and program.
  • Adjust the current training programs in a close cooperation with the DOJO/OJT trainer to improve individual and organizational performance in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Conduct the employee training (English or Spanish as needed) for all SMP employees focusing on production process in key manufacturing principles that includes Motherson Philosophy, Safety, Quality, and lean basics manufacturing basics (5S, 8 wastes, etc.)
  • Develop and conduct continually assessments during the DOJO/OJT training.
  • Create a fast track for all team members according to their basic skills, behaviors, and performance.
  • Maintain the training records for all the team members starting, going through and completing the DOJO/OJT training. Document with all corporate and internal forms.
  • Maintain all the assessment records for all the team members that has been assessed during the DOJO/OJT training.
  • Provide reports on specific KPIs tracked for training, for example training hours, compliance to the DOJO/OJT training and DOJO training throughput and DOJO/OJT training scores.
  • Handover DOJO trainees to the designated OJT trainer after completion of the training time on the DOJO area.
  • Schedule training sessions on the DOJO/OJT training area.
  • Select, develop, and execute appropriate training methods or activities using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as presentations, role playing, simulations, team exercises, and group discussions, videos, mentoring, on-the job training activities or lectures.
  • Provide necessary information about training sessions such as: training manuals, materials, handouts, evaluations, evaluation results and attendance records.
  • Schedule own trainings and other department trainings based on availability of classrooms, equipment, or instructors.
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities, DOJO/OJT area and equipment per shift.
  • Train in different shifts to cover the same level of skills and mentoring process in different productive areas.
  • Collect evaluations from OJT trainers for all team members and compile on the final DOJO and OJT training report for new hires (Temporary and direct hires)
  • Send training forms with scores to recruitment department for next steps on the hiring process.
  • Develop, manage, and update training material in both English and Spanish.
