Event Assistant - Iowa City

Summary/Objective

We are looking for highly organized candidates with excellent interpersonal skills. Big Grove Brewery & Taproom is a brewery, restaurant, and large-volume event venue with a diversity of events including corporate events, social parties, weddings, fundraisers, concerts, indoor/outdoor events, holiday events, and more. The Event Assistant must be available to work nights and weekends on a regular basis and will report directly to the Event Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and run events with event director/event staff and sometimes independently

• Ability to see the big picture and strategically align events with overarching goals

• Meet with the Event Coordinator weekly to coordinate event tasks for the week ‬‬‬‬

• Leads event staff in delivering high-quality event experiences

• Expected to be adaptable

• Communication with Big Grove staff before, during, and after events

• Addressing guests concerns in a friendly and courteous manner

• Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

This position is in a hospitality/brewery environment. This role routinely uses cleaning supplies and point-of-sale terminal systems.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position and hours of work/ days may vary from week to week. The business is open 7 days a week during many dayparts. Evenings and weekends are required.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Prior event experience preferred

2. Proven hospitality ability

3. Enjoyment for Big Grove Brewery products

4. Fluent understanding of how to read a BEO and invoices
