Job Description
Job Title: Counter Server
Reports to: Restaurant Manager & Supervisors
Summary of Position:
The primary responsibility of the Counter Server is to take care of guests from the time they walk-in in the door until they leave while promoting the upbeat attitude and warmth that Luna Café has developed with our clientele. The ideal candidate will enhance the mission of Neuman Hotel Group to provide personalized service and genuine hospitality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Understands completely and upholds all policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and training programs for Neuman Hotel Group & Luna Cafe.
•Warmly and graciously interacts with guests.
•Ensures the completion of the shift checklist.
•Gain and develop menu and mercantile knowledge to accommodate guest questions.
•Gain and develop knowledge of the hotel, town, and other properties to direct guests appropriately.
•Proficiently takes guests orders and ensures order accuracy.
•Provides timely feedback to manager of customer feedback.
•Accommodate special requests for guests whenever possible.
•Ensures guest service from start to finish.
•Stays on task and does side work during proper times.
•Ensures mercantile & cafe are properly stocked and reports low inventory levels to manager.
•Maintain the quality of the restaurant in the form of standards, cleaning, and sanitation.
•Makes a continuous effort to improve job skills, knowledge and education.
•Forge genuine relationships with guests and develop a professional candor with repeat customers.
•Willing to perform other job-related tasks that may not be included in this job description.
•Develop and uphold a general knowledge of food safety, state and federal health laws, and company policy.
Qualifications
•Restaurant experience is a plus but not required - on the job training will be provided.
•Barista experience is a plus, but not required- on the job training will be provided.
•Bar, Beer, & Wine knowledge is a plus, but not required.
•Must be a team player and demonstrate organizational skills
•Must have excellent interpersonal skills and confidence
•Food handler’s permit and OLCC permit REQUIRED or ability to obtain them
•Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends, holidays and overtime
•Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure in a fast paced environment
•Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5-8 hours).
•Excellent verbal and telephone skills to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with our guests.
•Must have exceptional grooming habits and adhere to all policies outlining such.
•Be flexible and willing to assist as needed to ensure all restaurant standards are met.
•Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, bend, kneel, squat and reach occasionally throughout a shift
•Must be able to maintain work ethic and self-direct to tasks when manager is not on the floor
•Ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing work environment.
•Must be able to take direction and take action when needed.
