Job Description

Industrial Inspection & Analysis (IIA) is looking to fill a full-time ASNT Level II Technician position at our Danville, VA location. IIA is an emerging, high growth inspection, testing, and analytical business seeking to build a national platform to serve a breadth of industrial sectors and geographies.

Summary

The ASNT Level II Technician (Level II) will perform non-destructive evaluations and production activities as well as ensure testing activities meet the client’s requirements and requests. Work will be performed at customer sites and / or IIA business locations in support of IIA projects. The Level II will perform the NDT methods of Radiographic Testing (RT, including X-ray) and Penetrant Testing (PT); assess the integrity of the item inspected with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications; and report the results to the applicable personnel. Additionally, the Level II will support other associated tasks such as job preparation, coordination, mobilization / demobilization, and reporting as directed by the GM, Project Manager or Level III Technician.


Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality procedures, laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Own personal and overall job site safety stopping the job if required due to unsafe conditions or lack of compliance to quality requirements. Perform day to day and routine safety observations and inspections.
  • Perform pre-job preparations of equipment, job walkdowns, procedural reviews, etc. as required by the specific work scope.
  • Perform hands on NDT / NDE work in accordance with appropriate codes and specifications, interfacing with the customer and assist in training for Technicians, Assistants / Apprentices based on the specific work scope. Ensure work and used materials are compliant with manufacturer and customer specifications.
  • Prepare inspection samples of materials and components for NDE during and after manufacturing processes are completed.
  • Make accept / reject decisions for defect severity and determine disposition based on code, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform post-job equipment, job walkdowns, procedural reviews, etc. as required by the specific work scope for the completed work and future work scheduled / planned.
  • Complete applicable job reports and other paperwork as required / instructed on or before the required date as communicated by the applicable IIA representative.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • ASNT Level II Certifications RT (X-ray), PT
  • Understand mechanical concepts and spatial relationships.
  • Understand basic physical NDT principles, processes, and limitations.
  • Knowledge of basic algebra and trigonometry.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and prepare technical specifications and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal skills for daily interaction with customers and fellow employees.
  • Ability to use basic software and Outlook to generate service reports and communicate within the company including skills to navigate web-based service literature and programs.
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license.
  • Take and pass all pre-employment screening, including background and initial and future random drug screening.
  • Meet or exceed quality program requirements for work experience on the applicable method and total work experience for the NDT method and level.
  • Provide verifiable evidence of previous certification, or completion of ASNT recommended training program for applicable method, or successfully complete the training program and applicable exams.
  • US Citizenship and be able to satisfy all US Government security requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work varying hours and varying days of the week.
  • Must be able to work in varying working environments ranging from an indoor office / laboratory environment to an outdoor oil field to power plant to other industrial facilities.
  • The position may occasionally be exposed to acetone, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic and / or caustic chemicals.
  • May be exposed to ionizing radiation.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and / or push up to 50 lbs.
