The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education, and advocacy. From college students to young stars, from working professionals to celebrated masters, we present quality jazz for an ever-increasing audience in an unprecedented range of activities and a variety of venues. JALC has created a dynamic platform where our key constituents – jazz artists (beginner to grizzled veteran), fans (casual listeners to advanced scholars), educators (local band leaders to leading artist-educators) and advocates (local community advocates to important national promoters) – can meet, engage, learn, and work toward common objectives.
The Coordinator, Human Resources supports the recruitment, onboarding, benefits, time off accruals, employee engagement initiatives and HRIS functions. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and confidential projects. Additionally, this position will assist in the coordination JALC’s internship program, the training and development of staff, and employee engagement projects. The ideal candidate will have the ability to complete general administrative tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to CHRO.
- Function as the first point of contact for internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.
- Audit, maintain and prepare (paper and electronic) employee files and data.
- Receive, code and process invoices.
- Supply occasional support to reception desk as needed.
- Support the recruitment process by posting open roles; scheduling interviews; coordinating background and reference checks; coordinating offer letters and appropriate correspondence with candidates.
- Coordinate the recruitment of entry level staff (e.g., interns and ushers).
- Coordinate new hire orientations and onboarding activities.
- Help communicate activities and events to staff.
- Support day-to-day transactions to include processing benefits enrollments and changes, leaves of absences, terminations, COBRA, employment verifications, unemployment requests, etc.
- Triage benefits inquiries as they come in and maintain related Schedule meetings, prepare presentations and materials and set up conference rooms.
- Coordinate training and development sessions, as well as employee engagement events.
- Assist in ad-hoc HR projects, such as employee surveys, vendor requests for proposals, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in HR related field, arts administration or music
- 1-3 years’ admin experience
- Background in any of the following HR systems is a plus: ADP, MS Teams, Curtaintime or Employer Benefits Portals
- Demonstrated and exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized with a keen eye for detail and a proven history of meticulous and concise notetaking.
- Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive matters with discretion and diplomacy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel
