We are currently seeking a full-time Licensed Building Architect. This position will work specifically in our Education studio and be eligible to work out of either our Rochester or Syracuse offices.

Duties:

  • Run internal architectural team to include disseminating work to the most basic levels to projects totaling up to and including approximately $10M.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to include structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, along with the services of other outside consultants as required.
  • Communicate the project design to the client/owner.
  • Provide the design for the project, coordinate with design group, manage architectural design process, assist Principal-In-Charge and Project Designers to make sure design concept is brought through to completion, develop a design process and be responsible for implementation, updating and accomplishment.
  • Oversee creation of graphic presentation to assist in conveyance of design concept, either by creating the graphic personally or coordinating the completion of the graphic presentation.
  • Meet with client on a regular basis, facilitate the meeting, take notes, and coordinate the completion of tasks decided on at the meeting.
  • Direct Technical Coordinator regarding design and technical project requirements.
  • Review and understand which codes and regulations are applicable to the project.
  • Assist Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager during marketing and sales activities.
  • Have a familiarity with firm-client contract or agreement for the design and delivery of the project and the client’s objectives and expectations.
  • Review project scope, client’s RFP and SWBR’s proposal.
  • Communicate and meet with project team to disseminate the necessary information to complete their tasks.
  • Review with Project Manager regularly the budgeted fee and financial performance reports and adjust as necessary to stay within budget.
  • Participate in necessary meetings with the project team to help maintain project process and disseminate latest information to project team.
  • Review employee performance with respect to the project expectations and goals.
  • 90% office setting, 10% active construction site visits.

Skills:

  • Has a 4-year or 5-year degree from an accredited program in Architecture; an advanced degree in this field is preferred
  • NYS license (or a willingness to transfer another state's license to New York) to practice architecture is required along with a minimum of 6-8 years of related architectural experience. Experience in construction techniques and how buildings are put together is required.
  • Experience with Higher Education or K-12 Architecture is highly preferred.
  • Has previous professional experience – and is proficient in - using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Is a proficient user of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Individual will work in a normal office setting and occasionally visit active construction sites, and must be physically able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and keyboard.
  • Position requires occasional lifting, up to a maximum of 25 pounds.

Base Salary Information:

$69,205-$102,031 - Depending on experience

The above salary ranges represent a good faith range for incumbents of these positions. Actual offers will be based on experience, education level, and demonstrated skills and will be at the discretion of the employer.
