AstroNova is hiring looking for full-time Facilities Custodian/Janitor. The hours for the position are 7:00am- 3:30pm. Position Summary/Objective
Responsible for day–to–day cleanliness of manufacturing of plants, including but not limited to, making minor repairs, replacing lights, housekeeping duties, setting up meeting rooms, special events, snow removal, painting, off-hour repairs, preventative maintenance of HVAC systems, annual reports on existing safety equipment, and overtime when work needs to be completed.

Interact w/ other departments within ANI & assist when possible. Receive supervision from the Facilities/Safety Manger, Plant Managers or Vice-President of Manufacturing. Most normal duties and responsibilities are handled independently or with the assistance of ANI employees both inside & outside your department w/ the use of established procedures. Difficult or unique situations are referred to Facilities/Safety Manager.

This position does not assist in directing other facilities personnel, but may be called upon to work as liaison with outside vendors such as electricians, plumbers, fire/safety technicians, local police and fire departments, alarm companies, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day maintenance of main plants office areas, including minor repairs, replacing lights, etc. Reports serious problems or major repairs to Manager.
  • Set up / tear down conference/meeting rooms, office spaces as needed. Including arranging tables, desks, chairs, equipment, etc. to best utilize space, room amenities or according to occupant’s preference.
  • Perform cleaning and janitorial duties (Sanitation care some grounds and housekeeping duties) etc.
  • In charge of general cleanliness of exterior of physical plant and (trash, parking lot). Concentration on the main doors is expected.
  • Assist in checking plants/main building for hazards & deficiencies.
  • Continue to learn at conferences, trainings & continuing education.
  • Ability to work overtime weekly.
  • Perform other duties that may not be listed but may be assigned my supervisor or Vice President of Manufacturing.
  • Responsible for daily workload and prioritizing jobs.


Preferred Skills, Experience and Certifications

  • At least 2 years’ experience in facilities
  • At least one year’s experience performing building maintenance.
  • Ability to follow directions, apply and make needed repairs.

Required Competencies

Physical Requirements

Finger agility, ability to push, pull and lift furniture, equipment, etc. as needed. Ability to carry tools, stand for long periods of time, climb steps, ladders, stoop, reach, bend, and grasp objects.

Ability to pay attention to details and meet deadlines. Ability to deal with demands and demanding individuals. Ability to use reason to solve maintenance related problems.

The ability to stand for long periods of time with the ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds is required.

Special Working Conditions / Travel Requirements

Ability to work during and after winter storms to clean up property.
