TITLE: YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL

DEPARTMENT: Programs

SUPERVISOR: Club Director

STATUS: Part-time, Non-exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is an integral part of the program team. This position is a perfect fit for someone looking to take a first step in their career to work with youth in a academic, athletic, and/or artistic setting. With the priority of working with youth during program hours, the person who fills this position will also be responsible for the items listed below. Additionally, the person who fills this position will work under the direction of the Club Director at the Washington County Clubhouse in Sandersville, Georgia.



KEY ROLES & ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish weekly/monthly programs calendar consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  • Develop a schedule of programs that will be presented at the site for the week and month and keep staff notebook updated using the youth development report form for each activity conducted.
  • Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of programs activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program areas.
  • Create an environment that promotes and stimulates program participation.
  • Register new members and participate in their club orientation.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, service and activities for drop-in members.
  • Monitor services and activities to ensure the safety of members and maintain the appearance of the facility.
  • Ensure the evaluation of the programs on a continual basis and ensure programs/activities respond to members’ needs.
  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
  • Participate as part of a team to run quality programs by helping out where needed or directed, which may include driving the Club van.

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.
  • External: Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to minimum of 2 years where
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
