As a leading and rapidly growing manufacturer of III-V laser diodes, we’re always looking to add members to our dynamic engineering team. As a member of the epitaxial and optical thin film manufacturing group you’ll be immersed in multi-modal thin film growth and deposition techniques while developing your metrology and characterization skills to enable best-in-class device production.

Laser Optical Coating Engineer position is unique in that it offers simultaneous opportunities to hone your engineering skills while also developing a greater understanding of how data drives manufacturing improvements through the implementation and utilization of dynamic data analysis.


Duties:

  • Lead process improvement teams intended to increase throughput by reducing process time and increasing yield (Lean Six Sigma).
  • Promote safety awareness, accident prevention and employee involvement with regards to safe work environment.
  • Develop, modify, and continuously improve manufacturing process and procedures to enable higher productivity, reduced scrap, and improved quality.
  • Reviews and monitors processes and makes recommendations for improvements. Setup and monitoring statistical process and control (SPC) charts.
  • Work with technicians/operators/facilities staff to ensure continuous operation of production resources.
  • Troubleshooting product, process, and equipment issues in the area.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and develop DOEs/implement engineering change orders.
  • Monitor, identify root cause, and resolve process yield issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement of characterization methods.
  • Be comfortable working in clean room attire as required.
  • Applying various statistical methods to improve reproducibility and manufacturability through Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) , Control Plan and Gage R&R studies
  • Coordinate with MES deployment team to transfer existing SPC methods to new environment.
  • Skills/Qualifications:

    • Must have a B.S. or M.S. in Optical Engineering, Material Science or related field
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must-have
    • Knowledge of semiconductor lasers
    • Exposure to medium to long term projects
    • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams
    • Proficient with MS Office applications Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Appreciation of both practical and theoretical methodologies
    • Knowledge of troubleshooting guides, working documentation, safety
    • Knowledge of quality systems and reliability assessment
    • Experience with Lean and 5S programs. Experience with Six Sigma
    • Demonstrated success in project management
    • Proven track record in program management and technical team leadership
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
