Job Description

As a Sr. Design Construction Engineer, reporting to the Director, of Engineering, you will have the opportunity to cover many areas of Civil Engineering including steel, concrete, timber, and geo-structural design. The responsibilities require involvement during the bidding, plan development, and construction phases of the project.


  • Design falsework for temporary structure support
  • Design temporary bridges for construction access
  • Design hydraulic systems for vertical/horizontal travel
  • Design cofferdams and other soil retention systems
  • Bridge analysis for construction equipment and demolition procedures
  • Bridge analysis for steel/concrete beam erection stability
  • Wood/steel formwork design for concrete slabs and walls
  • Analysis of lifting equipment (hoists and rigging)
  • Analysis and design of safety systems
  • Analysis for barge stability under construction equipment loading
  • Provide clear construction and shop drawings using CAD
  • Project team involvement from planning to ongoing project support.
  • Partner with the Safety Team to improve methods and safety concerns that may arise


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution and five (5) or more years of Civil Construction Design experience
  • Professional Engineer certification is required.
  • Ability to collaborate with personnel at all levels, both internal and external to the organization; An accurate and thorough construction plan in partnership with the Project & Field teams is paramount to a successful project.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and quickly address potential issues that may develop during the construction phase
  • Experience with the following software desired: Structural design (Visual Analysis and other IES Programs), Earth Retention (DeepEx and ShoringSuite), CAD (Microstation)
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be highly organized
