The University of Miami and the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, & Sleep Medicine, within the Department of Medicine, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager, Research Support. This position primarily exercises discretion and independent judgment in daily activities with guidance from divisional and departmental leadership. This position will assist the division Chief(s) and Administrator in all duties associated with the division’s activities. The Project Manager, Research Support will work with a team of physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to standards and policies within the division are adhered to. The Project Manager, Research Support will oversee divisional operations to assure effective and efficient workflow from a business, operational, research and clinical perspective.

The Project Manager, Research Support will also be responsible for providing support to staff and faculty by facilitating prompt resolutions to difficulties that arise in daily business and research operations. The incumbent may also need to monitor, assess, plan, and implement protocols to ensure compliance of staff and faculty. The individual will be asked to complete assignments requiring the collection/organization of data, analysis/reconciliation of advanced reporting, and strategic development and advancement of the divisional initiatives. Other day-to-day tasks included are, but not limited to: data entry, accounts management, answering/triaging telephone calls, transferring/relaying messages to appropriate individuals, responding to inquiries, and directing them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.

  • Manages and coordinates the activities of office and clinic personnel.
  • Approves time and attendance documents.
  • Oversees recommendations for hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations, and trains and evaluates all positions for the practice.
  • Maintains and adjusts job descriptions for department staff.
  • Sets goals and objectives for support staff and evaluates their performance.
  • Trains or facilitates the training of personnel within the assigned division(s).
  • Participates in customer service and leadership training.
  • Attends University meetings regarding UCare, Epic implementation, HIPAA compliance, and third-party payor contracts.
  • Develops and implements an inventory control system for supplies and materials required by the practice.
  • Oversees employee, patient, and physician relations and problem resolution as it occurs in the offices.
  • Ensures compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
