About this job

Job DescriptionBlue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) has acquired all North Carolina-based locations of FastMed.

This will enable FastMed and Blue Cross NC, two North Carolina companies with shared values, to work together to fortify health care capacity in the state so North Carolinians have access to critical points of quality, affordable care. We would continue to operate independently, meaning our team members would not become Blue Cross NC employees. Blue Cross NC and FastMed will collaborate on ways to enhance the patient and team member experience.

For more than 20 years FastMed has served as the front door of healthcare for North Carolina communities. Our mission is to provide patients with the best end-to-end healthcare experience in terms of quality, accessibility, affordability, and compassion. We believe that patients should be treated with empathy and thoughtfulness. We are looking for dedicated team members who are committed to going above and beyond to deliver an exceptional experience for our patients. Come join us!

As a Systems Administrator, you'll play a critical role in managing and maintaining our organization's computer systems, networks, and servers. Your primary responsibilities will involve troubleshooting and monitoring systems and processes supporting our business, both on-site and in cloud-based services.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain critical IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, hardware, data centers, and SaaS platforms.

  • Collaborate with vendors and departments to ensure high-quality deliverables within organizational guidelines, policies, and procedures.

  • Work closely with the Help Desk and Service Delivery teams to identify and manage planned activities.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of Incident and Change Control documents.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of existing hardware and software for enterprise applications and deployment.

  • Provide detailed written documentation on system functionality, utilization, and encountered issues.

  • Perform system maintenance for hardening, vulnerability mitigation, and cybersecurity compliance.

What You'll Bring (Hiring Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Windows Systems Administration or Windows Systems Engineering.

  • Experience within virtualization environments, preferably VMWare ESX.

  • Familiarity with patch management tools like SCCM or WSUS.

  • Proficiency in various systems, servers, and protocols (Cisco, Citrix, VMware, TCP/IP, DNS, Active Directory).

  • Cloud expertise, particularly in Microsoft Azure and Office 365 management and administration.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in PowerShell and other scripting languages.

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, OSI Model, and TCP/IP concepts.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA and PCI DSS regulations and requirements.

  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest security standards.

  • Capable of proactive work and handling pressure; occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required.

  • Comfortable in a demanding, fast-paced, customer-focused organization with a startup culture, adaptable to evolving processes and new situations.
