Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our Underground Limestone Mine located in Torrance PA .

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus of $2,000 paid out in 2 installments (each installment paid at: 6 months and 1 year).

What You'll Get To Do

Do you pride yourself in the ability to fix anything? Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to assist with the maintenance operations at this sites underground mine. You will have the opportunity to tackle new challenges each and every day to keep the mine running smoothly and efficiently.

• Work in an underground Limestone mine environment with room heights of 27 feet tall with a year-round temperature 50-60 degrees.
• Diagnose, adjust, test, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatics on equipment such as mechanical scalers (Gradall/Fletcher), Sandvik drills, Caterpillar and Komatsu large front-end loaders and 70-ton haul trucks which all operate in the underground mine.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on mining and support equipment.
• Utilize tools such as CAT ET to diagnose component failures.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities.
• Fueling equipment during shift as needed
• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
• Operate individually and within a team environment.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures; perform daily equipment inspections, as well as identify and assist in correcting unsafe conditions.
• Willingness to work up to 10-12 hrs a day / 6 days a week.
• Welding and cutting experience desired.
• Knowledge/understanding to troubleshoot 12v and 24v dc electrical.

What We Are Looking For

• Applicants who are safety oriented with a desire to learn.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance required.
• 3-5 years of mechanic experience preferred.
• Physical Requirements: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory, fall protection harness, safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, hi vis gear and other personal protective equipment
• MSHA Part 48 Training a plus but not required.
• Effective communication with foreman and management team.
