Essential Functions:
Guest Service:
- Engage with guests, offer product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products
- Ensure quality beverages, whole bean, and food products are consistently provided for all guests by ensuring entire team is adhering to all recipe and presentation standards
- Ensure guest orders are completed in a timely manner, and to their satisfaction
- Owns the Starbucks area experience including cleanliness, guest-facing signage, audio/visual components, and ensures the highest level of welcoming and promptness from Starbucks team members
- Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team
- Monitors the preparation of beverages to ensure that Starbucks standards for quality, portioning and consistency are followed, making corrections as needed
Leadership:
- Administers formal and informal training, including, but not limited to onboarding, food and beverage preparation, food handling, recipe compliance, guest service and use of systems and equipment
- Assigns work tasks and activities, prepares schedules, and ensures that all shifts are covered
- Engages in all aspects of leading team members, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, recognition, team building and development
- Applies corporate and department policies consistently and equitably
- Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable brand standards, CBAs, and all procedures and protocols to maximize brand and labor relations, and teaches team members these standards
- Accountable for the execution of all closing and opening requirements and participates in the cleaning and setting up the outlet for the next shift
- Adhere to all regulatory, company, and department policies and procedures
Cleanliness and Safety:
- Troubleshoots equipment issues with espresso machine, grinder, and other related equipment
- Follows guidelines for maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Ensure team members are consistently operating tools and equipment, while following all safety policies and procedures
- Inspects food service equipment to determine proper care, use, and operation
- Promptly reports operational and safety problems to store leadership
Stocking, Storage and Receiving:
- Completes inventory to ensure adequate supply of items necessary for operation
- Ensures food and beverage display areas are stocked according to current specifications
- Receives ordered materials, check purchase receipts and invoices
- Stores merchandise received and rotates stock in refrigerators, freezers, or storage rooms according to food handling guidelines and requirements
- Monitors and handles prepared foods according to instructions and for compliance with health code regulations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, understand menus and brand standards as well as converse comfortably with individuals
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in an efficient and controlled manner
- Ability to work and communicate successfully with all levels of store support management and subordinates
- Ability to plan and organize the activities of others
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including opening, closing and weekend and holiday shifts
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to demonstrate personal initiative and exceptional guest service
- Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- One (1) year retail / customer service leadership experience
- Prior cash handling experience preferred
- Work requires knowledge of computer programs- Microsoft Suite.
