Overview:

A leading and fast-growing Northern California nut processor is looking to add a Controller to its growing finance department. This position will play an integral role in developing and leading the finance and accounting functions of the organization as it continues to grow.

Responsibilities:

The Controller will oversee the general ledger, manufacturing/cost accounting, fixed asset spend, banking, audits and reporting.  Additionally, the Controller will be involved in auditing inventory and ensuring that the values are reflected accurately on the financial statements.

Key Duties:

  • Implement and maintain standard cost practices in a manufacturing setting including the development and maintenance of cost standards, monitoring of variances and recommendation of adjustments as is necessary
  • Oversee General Ledger structure and accuracy including chart of accounts and cost centers ensuring information is posted according to company objectives
  • Auditing physical inventory results and cycle counts to ensure accuracy
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to the Executive Board and other leaders as required
  • Participate in the planning, execution and accounting for fixed asset acquisitions along with the associated depreciation and ensuring ongoing accuracy of the companies fixed asset lists
  • Play an integral part in the development of internal controls and policies to conform and comply with established best practices.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external service providers (i.e. CPA and financial institutions)
  • Create and monitor departmental financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
  • Support banking activities through appropriate recording of debt instruments and monitoring of associated requirements and covenants
  • Maintain an up to-date fixed assets listing and depreciation schedule
  • Oversee completion of annual income and property tax returns
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or closely related field
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • 3-5+ years’ accounting work experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Familiar with both cash and accrual basis of accounting
  • Prior CPG/Ag/Manufacturing experience a plus

Compensation:

This position offers a competitive salary ($110-140k) depending on experience and qualifications.  In addition:
