Occupational therapist/diagnostician

 

Location: T'siya Day School, 1000 Borrego Canyon Rd, San Ysidro, NM 87053

Schedule: 36 weeks/year, 3 day/week

 

Sanford federal is recruiting a Occupational therapist/diagnostician to support the T'siya Day School mission. - The mission of the Occupational therapist/diagnostician would be to Plan and implement therapy/evaluation services to students with all necessary referral documentation assigned by the School. These services are provided in collaboration with families and in accordance with the School's mission and philosophy. - Develop individualized education plans and therapy goals for students who qualify for OT services. Goals may address handwriting, keyboarding skills, managing classroom tools/materials, regulating emotions, improving focus and organization, and more. - Maintain accurate records and write evaluation and progress reports. Document treatment progress and outcomes. Make referrals as needed. - Evaluate students to identify barriers to participation in the educational environment. They assess fine motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, social-emotional development, self-care skills, and more. - Develop individualized treatment plans that address communication and swallowing needs. Provide therapeutic interventions to improve communication abilities. Utilize evidence-based practices. - Collaborate with families, teachers, physicians, nurses, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care. Counsel patients and families on communication disorders.

 

Qualifications:

  • PhD/Masters degree in occupational therapy (MOT or MSOT) from an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Optional certifications like Board Certification in Pediatrics (BCP) through NBCOT demonstrate advanced expertise.
  • Have expertise in child development, fine motor assessment, sensory processing skills, modification of school tasks and environment, special education policies, and therapy strategies for the school setting.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate with school staff, parents, and students.
  • Experience with children/adolescent
  • Communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
