POSITION SUMMARY:
The Occupational Therapist provides skilled occupational therapy services consistent with professional and regulatory standards and policies. Participates in the development of individualized programs necessary to achieve patient care objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position.  This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine functional deficit and potential and establish a therapeutic program. Develop a therapy plan of care to include goals and discharge plans.
  • Document, within time frames, observations, patient's response to treatment, treatment programs, degree of progress and notable changes in patient condition. Completes all documentation required and in accordance with state and federal regulations and policy.  Demonstrate administration of objective, standardized tests and measures and performance of evidence-based practice in documentation.
  • Communicate and coordinate patient care with other members of the patient's health care team.  Attend employee meetings and patient conferences.
  • Supervise occupational therapy assistants in accordance with regulations and policy.
  • Provide patient and family teaching related to the patient's occupational therapy program and patient/family engagement in goal achievement.  Assist the patient and/or family to procure needed equipment or supplies.
  • Provide occupational therapy interventions in accordance with physician's orders and accepted evidence-based professional practices.
  • Utilize appropriate hand washing, standard precautions and personal protective equipment.
  • Keep knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice current and acquires new skills as needed by attendance at workshops, courses, in-services, etc.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with the administration of objective standardized tests and measures and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Other duties as necessary.

•    Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
