Senior Tax Accountant

EyeCare Partners is currently seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to be a trusted member of the EyeCare Partners tax team located at our corporate offices in Ballwin, MO. The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting the VP of Tax and the Tax Director in managing all tax compliance for the Company, including federal, state, and local income, tangible/ intangible personal property, gross receipts, sales/use, license, excise, franchise, and other taxes. The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing or reviewing schedules necessary to respond to inquiries from outside auditors and assists with scheduling and supervising staff and external parties in the completion of tax compliance, including providing input in performance evaluations. The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of tax compliance systems and for ASC 740 calculations as directed. Requirements include the ability to work independently, excellent communication and organizational skills, and proficiency with various computer systems. The Senior Tax Accountant must have a high attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

· Assist in planning the income tax compliance process

· Research as needed, including formal documentation of conclusions

· Assist in calculations of year-end provisions and related disclosures, including identifying, documenting, and quantifying reserves for uncertain tax positions

· Perform detailed review of workpapers for compliance and quarterly estimates and perform preparation of workpapers as needed

· Perform detailed review of direct and indirect tax returns and other filings; perform preparation of returns as needed

· Maintain tax compliance systems and processes; provide input in continuous improvement of automation

· Ensure items on Tax Calendar are completed accurately before due date; help maintain Tax Calendar

· Complete/maintain/monitor adherence to departmental policies and procedures

· Develop, train, mentor and assist in supervising/managing tax staff and seniors

· Assist with federal, state and local audits and notices for income and non-income taxes

· Assist with SOX documentation and walk-throughs by auditors

· Keep current with changes in tax laws and reporting requirements that affect the company

· Assist in integration of acquisitions; assist with tax planning projects and implementation

· Improving processes including capturing data at the source

· Other projects as requested

Requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Master's and/or CPA preferred

· 4+ years of experience, including 2 years of experience reviewing federal and state direct and indirect returns/filings of corporations, partnerships, and consolidated groups.

· Must be proficient with use of Excel, Word, automated tax preparation software (CorpTax experience a plus), general ledger software (SAP a plus), depreciation software (FAS a plus)

· Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, customer service and organizational skills

· Ability to work independently

· Strong organizational, communication, time management skills with attention to detail required

· Experience with tax accounting under ASC 740

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Must be able to sit for an extended period of time.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Must work 40 hours each week to maintain full time status.
