ROLE

 

The Laborer performs a variety of construction-related tasks including general cleaning and site preparation, protection, debris and trash removal, and providing on-site assistance as requested.  Basic use of hand tools and equipment may be required. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Install and maintain protection on job sites and in occupied luxury residences.
  • Move furniture, change light bulbs, and perform similar tasks as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly job site for the entire duration of a project.
  • Ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of tools and equipment on-site.
  • Load, unload and distribute materials as instructed.
  • Remove on-site debris and trash, load dumpsters and move materials on-site.
  • Sweep and/or mop all areas as needed.
  • Perform basic demolition and other general labor tasks.
  • Assist carpenters and other trades on site as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members via various technologies, phone, email, etc.
  • Monitor subcontractors and control site access/activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be familiar with operating in occupied finished and furnished luxury residences.
  • Experience with deployment and application of various protection methodologies specific to luxury residences
  • Familiarity of duties of other trades and their materials, tools, and machinery preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Hour preferred; OSHA 10 Hour required
  • 4 Hour Supported Scaffold.
  • Asbestos/Mold/Lead/Silica Awareness.

 

COMPENSATION

Hourly compensation is commensurate with experience and could range from $20-$25 per hour.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
