What You Should Know About the Associate Buyer Role:

  • This is a full-time position, M-F 8am-5pm at our Hospice of Dayton Inpatient facility

Key Responsibilities of the Associate Buyer Role:

  • Researches, evaluates, maintains relationships, and negotiates with product vendors.to ensure all items meet the needs of patients and staff of Ohio’s Hospice.
  • Obtains competitive price quotes, assists with the preparation and implementation of formal bids, negotiates procurement details with vendors and recommends the most appropriate and cost-effective alternatives.
  • Coordinates delivery and confirms all products are received in conditions consistent with original request or bid.
  • Coordinates returns and/or repairs of products, monitors changes, modifications, and technological advances that affect the purchasing of goods and services utilized.
  • Assists staff with cost containment measures related to inventory control through evaluations, feedback on new products, contract utilization, standardization and continuous monitoring of inventory and budget performance.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the inventory and order systems for purchasing items, ordering supplies and equipment, stocking and dispensing items purchased, and expediting returns for the enterprise.
  • Works with vendors to ensure present and future supply availability
  • Maintains Purchasing Records in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Initiates inventory cycle counts and reports any discrepancies appropriately.
  • Ensures orders for special supplies that are not stocked are expedited in a manner that patient needs are met.
  • Maintains adequate supplies of custom kits that are made by the Volunteer staff.
  • Validates charge card purchase and reconciles charges appropriately.
  • Monitors inventory levels and works with purchasing staff to ensure that inventory is ordered that maintains inventory at assigned par levels 100% of the time to meet the needs of our patients and staff

Assoicate Buyer Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) or Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) Preferred
  • Experience in the purchasing or procurement areas of a large public or private agency; or equivalent combination of education and experience in purchasing or procurement areas
  • Computer skills sufficient to properly document services, communicate effectively, and maintain purchasing/ inventory control systems.
  • Travel may be required during daytime, nighttime or inclement weather.
  • Valid Driver's License with Safe Driving Record
  • State Minimum Automobile Insurance Coverage
