Organization: Insight Juvenile Crisis and Assessment Center, operated by Methodist Home for Children in partnership with the Department of Public Safety

Schedule: Part-time, Saturdays & Sundays, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

About Us: Our mission is to provide a comprehensive juvenile assessment in a residential setting, aimed at matching youth to the most suitable services within their community. The Center is dedicated to serving Level II offenders between the ages of 10 and 17, ensuring their well-being and assisting in their rehabilitation process.

Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated part-time Cook to join our team at the Assessment Center in Butner, NC. The Cook will play a crucial role in the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals and snacks for the children and staff, fostering a healthy and positive environment within our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare nutritious and balanced meals for the Assessment Center residents and staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic nutrition requirements, adhering to USDA guidelines for children's meals.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop weekly menus that meet nutritional standards and dietary needs.
  • Assist in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring a well-equipped kitchen.
  • Consider cultural diversity within the Center, integrating varied perspectives into menu planning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in food preparation for large groups, preferably in adherence to specific dietary guidelines.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Successful completion of pre-service and ongoing training, including physical restraint techniques, First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and medication administration.
