Meat Manager

IronRoad is conducting a confidential search for our Cincinnati, Ohio based client. Our search is focused on finding the right Meat Department Manager that will bring their skills, experience and infectious, lighthearted personality to this close-knit team and their loyal customers.

MEAT DEPARTMENT MANAGER

As the Meat Department Manager, you will oversee the butcher section of the store. You will help schedule shifts and hire and train new employees on how to maintain product quality, operate specialized butcher’s machinery used for cutting meat. The Meat Department has a large selection/variety of the highest quality cuts. They carry the all-time favorites as well as a plethora of meats that other grocery stores, markets and chains do not carry. Their Butcher-shop style department is always cutting, grinding, trimming, wrapping, and presenting all our meats in a beautiful manner.

Position Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:

• Being an Awesome Leader, Communicator, and excellent example for the Department
• Maintain Fiscal year budget objectives including but not limited to ad billings, promotional income/Ad money.
• Tour the sales floor regularly, talk to colleagues and customers, and identify or resolve urgent issues.
• Arrange and oversee the buying, transportation, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of products.
• Evaluate products to make sure that quality standards are consistently met.
• Meet with vendors and sales representatives to analyze and negotiate the best cost for promotions with vendors within your categories!
• Drive sales and profits through smart buying, merchandising, inventory management, customer service, and salesmanship.
• Manage and assess department expenses, shrink, and waste.

Requirements:

• Minimum five years meat cutting experience.
• Must have proficiency cutting meat with a bandsaw and above-average knife skills.
• Extensive knowledge of all cuts of beef and pork.
• Knowledge of perishables, product rotation, and safe food handling practices.
• Work environment includes continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment.
• Typical elements of this job are physical in nature.
• Ability to maneuver weight up to 100 pounds.
• Schedule may entail nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 18 or older.

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

• Sales & Retail experience preferred.
• Basic computer, math, and data entry skills.
• Ability to stand, walk and bend for up to 10 consecutive hours

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
