Job Description
Job Summary:
Assembles electrical and/or hydraulic components, mechanical devices, and sub-assemblies for an agricultural research equipment according to instructions. Installs wiring, hoses, belts, pulleys, components, and other devices during final assembly. Receives written and verbal work assignments from the Production Leader and plans and executes work independently and efficiently. Provides assistance to Production Leaders and fellow final assemblers as needed.
Job Competencies:
· Assemble sup-assemblies, components, and mechanical devises together.
· Mechanical aptitude.
· Safely and efficiently operates a range of hand and power tools and diagnostic instruments while securely holding parts/materials/configurations.
Job Duties:
Essential Job Functions
1. Utilizes knowledge of the best methods and the proper sequence of steps to assemble painted sup-assemblies, components, and mechanical devices together (combines, planters, or threshers) independently and efficiently.
· Performs specialized assembly application, such as an instrumentation or electrical or hydraulic power systems.
· Builds, modifies, or repairs equipment from concepts and verbal instructions.
· Discusses final assembly and product function issues with the Production Supervisor and Leader, Service employees and others to provide information in the efficient assembly of quality products.
· Installs a wide variety of mechanical and non-mechanical devices onto and into an product.
· Assembles metal subassemblies and final assemblies using various fastening devices and connecting methods.
2. Performs at a consistent productivity level with a consistent quality record.
· Checks over supplied subassemblies, parts, supplies, materials, clamps, gages, testing instruments, or purchased components to ensure correctness.
· Tests electrical and mechanical devices for proper fit and function using various testing methods and devices.
· Performs final assembly checks, such as engine and motor speeds.
· Performs quality checks as outlined on checklists and as assigned.
