Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Effective Date: 9/1/23

Reports To: Maintenance and Facilities Manager

Summary:  This position plays a critical role in ensuring the proper functioning and longevity of machinery and equipment within an industrial setting. It involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining various types of machinery, such as production equipment, conveyor systems, and other mechanical systems used in manufacturing and industrial facilities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment to identify and address potential issues before they lead to breakdowns or failures.
  2. Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in machinery, including replacing or repairing defective components, such as motors, bearings, belts, gears, and sensors.
  3. Installation: Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and machinery, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and integration into existing systems.
  4. Calibration: Calibrate and adjust machinery to maintain optimal performance, accuracy, and reliability according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  5. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance, updating maintenance logs, work orders, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  6. Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, both personal safety practices and compliance with regulatory requirements, to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  7. Training: Provide guidance and training to others regarding equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, increased efficiency, and cost savings related to equipment maintenance and performance.
  9. Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and work diligently to restore equipment to operational status to minimize production disruptions.
  10. Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for equipment repairs and maintenance.

     11.   Work environment – This role requires working shifts, weekends, and overtime to respond to emergencies and maintain          uninterrupted production processes. 

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic or similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, precision instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, especially during emergency repairs or maintenance projects.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments.
