Summary: Working directly for the Hospitality Manager and indirectly for the Cafe Manager, the hostess is the primary first impression of the business. Will be responsible for providing the highest level of attentive, courteous, and anticipatory customer service through greeting guests and ensuring an exceptional visit. Will work to seat guests as quickly as possible, support co-workers in clearing vacated tables, and cover incoming customer issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete daily work, including opening and closing duties, as assigned by the manager on duty.
- Ensures guests are greeted as quickly as possible.
- Answer guest inquiries and provide information about the tasting room, grounds, and bistro services.
- When immediate bar space is limited, record guest names and the number of people in the party and provide guests with estimated waiting time utilizing our reservation software system.
- Respond to guest concerns/complaints and correct errors or solve complaints while maintaining a positive attitude, escalating to the Shift Lead/Manager when necessary.
- Monitor open tasting stations.
- Ensures associates know that a new customer has been seated in their section.
- Promptly, effectively, and efficiently manage the waitlist.
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
- Escort guest to their appropriate tasting station.
- Develop relationships and engage with guests to educate them on our company and the experiences we offer.
- Respond to guest questions regarding tastings, food, beverages, and the restaurant.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the hostess station.
- Possess robust POS and reservation software commandments.
- Clear menus, glasses, and clutter when guests leave the tasting station if necessary.
- Relay messages to associates as needed.
- Assist and/or complete additional tasks as assigned.
