Summary of Position
Operates various types of CNC & Conventional machines, standard shop tools and performs progressive machining operations of Production parts, tooling and machines with tight tolerances or high finish requirements. Fits and assembles, when necessary, utilization of hand tools and conventional measuring instruments. Familiar with working with materials of various properties.
Essential Job Requirements (MINIMUM):
· Willing to study specifications, drawings, sketches and other processes in order to finish operations of new and or reworkable products. Understanding of dimensions and tolerances per the ASME standards, sequences of operations and utilization of tools, materials and machines required to perform the task.
· Must have a proficient knowledge of CNC and manual machine setups that may include various types of work holding such as sine plates, vacuum chucks & vise’s etc.
· Able to understand and comprehend speed & feed rates as well as cutting tool usage.
· Performs set-up of machinery such as MAKINO, HAAS 3-axis VMC, manual lathes, conventional milling machines, drill press & grinders to perform highly complex machining operations to build tooling and other production items according to specifications and or requests.
· Rework and modifies existing tooling as well as new fabrication of various types of molds & fixtures.
· Examines/ inspects Production parts to ensure workmanship is free from defects using gauges, micrometers, protractors, calipers and other conventional measuring instruments and tools.
· Observes operations to detect faulty machining problems or programming issues.
· Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
· Able to multi-task and adjust to changes in the work environment
· Works independently and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
· Conform to the company’s quality system procedures as documented.
· May participate in the design of tooling and must have a vast knowledge of mold fabrication processes and materials for rubber and silicone products.
· Ability to track all work performed and record those tasks in a manufacturing order (M.O.) as required. Supplies support to other areas within the company as necessary or required.
· Other duties as required or necessary beyond this scope.
Maintains a clean environment and minor maintenance to machines such as: Following OEM guidelines for coolant, lubrication and filtration of the VMC equipment, as well as conventional machinery if applicable.
EDUCATION:
High School or GED required. 2-year vocational technical training in the machinist trade with CAD & NC Programming experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
5 years manufacturing experience and experience in a similar position required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to problems in a real time environment.
· Proficiency in using PC software: MS Windows & Office.
· Proficiency in using CAD/ NC software: CATIA V5 and or Solidworks, Mastercam and or Surfcam.
· Blueprint reading and intermediate specification and process’s knowledge.
· Intermediate math skills with the ability to use a calculator.
· Good understanding of G-code ( M-code if applicable).
· Attention to detail.
