1st Shift Manual Machinist

Responsibilities:

·         Operate manual machines – vertical mill – lathe – jig grinder – drill press – surface grinder – cut off saw etc.

·         Calculate mathematical adjustments needed by interpreting standard & metric QA lab readouts and drawings.

·         Ability to read and decipher weld fixture component blueprints.

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineered drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements needed.

·         Ability to machine/re-machine new components for fixtures and gages.

·         Able to read precise measuring & test equipment – micrometers-calipers-height gage-dial indicator.

·         Able to maintain low/close tolerances on fixtures and finished good parts.

·         Understand how to select cutting tools for various metals.

·         Understand feed and speeds for manual machining applications.

·         Ability to operate/bypass robotic weld fixture controls for quality checks.

·         Perform PM and maintain robotic weld fixtures.

·         Complete PM documents and file accordingly.

·         Perform other duties as needed within the tooling department.

General Work Requirements:

·         Applicants will be required to demonstrate a knowledge of machine set up, as well as controls, and the operation of manual machines.

·         High school diploma or GED required.

·         Technical/vocational training in machining highly desired.

·         Proficient at math with analytical abilities.

·         Ability to work with others as well as on your own with little supervision.

·         Ability to receive and follow directions to execute needs and functions of job description.

·         Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed.

·         Excellent attendance.

·         Adhere to company Environmental, Health, and Safety processes.

·         Manipulate medium to large objects, materials, or tools on a routine basis.

·         Move moderately heavy objects on a routine, daily basis.

·         Apply a specific level of strength to move an object.

·         Use arms/legs continually and repeatedly over an extended period.

·         Respond to sights and sounds.

·         Move at a moderate to fast pace across specified terrain for extended periods of time.

·         Adjust body position while performing tasks.
