HOUSING MANAGER

Job Summary:

The Housing Manager works part-time under the direct supervision of the Housing Director and the general supervision of the Executive Director. This position is responsible for the daily management of the assigned HUD housing project.

Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned:

• Be responsible for accepting applications, verifying income information, figuring and collecting monthly rent from tenants.

• Be responsible for annual tenant recertification.

• May supervise part time maintenance worker if one has been assigned to the project.

• Distributes flyers about the housing project, speaks to civic groups, etc., actively solicits new tenants.

• Coordinates activities for tenants.

• Maintain appropriate files and records, submitting reports as necessary.

• Assist during the annual audit as necessary.

• Attend regular housing manager meetings.

• Conduct monthly physical inspections of apartments. Assist with annual physical inspections of apartments and property.

• Assist with and prepare for management reviews and REAC inspections.

• Oversee the preparation of vacant apartments to be made ready for occupancy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have computer skill, including Microsoft office.

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

• Ability to work well with others and to deal with the public.

• Good organizational skills.

• Ability to lift 40lbs.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent with two years-experience in a business environment. Interest or experience in working with the elderly.
