Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product. Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Scheduler will be responsible to develop and maintain the master production schedule and maintain inventory personnel for all receiving and for all packaging and ingredients. The Production Scheduler will develop the daily production schedule to meet customer and distribution center’s demand while meeting overall departmental inventory objectives. This is a critical leadership position with support to the overall production and materials network within Pineland Farms Potato Company. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, publishes and maintains the master production schedule, balancing inventory, resources and capacity.
  • Facilitates teams, training and functional interaction meetings for direction, decision making, information sharing and consensus building.
  • Leads daily production meetings and advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems.
  • Communicates with the Demand and Supply Planning, Customer Service, Marketing, Production, Quality Control, Engineering and Sales departments on a regular basis to resolve potential schedule interruptions.
  • Manages raw, in-process and finished inventory levels consistent with business objectives and requirements.
  • Partners with Quality and Production to ensure all new products are implemented flawlessly.
  • Supports and leads various plant/company teams, and goals. And actively participates in cross-functional continuous improvement teams.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy through an effective cycle count program including best practices on daily material usage in production (Correct and minimizes theoretical SAP shrink assumptions).
  • Ensures proper material rotation (FIFO) and minimizes obsolete and spoiled materials.
  • Updates and maintains accurate master data information in the SAP system and engages QA, R & D, Operations and production to ensure new product launches are accurate and new product trials and scheduled and communicated to all involved parties.
  • Maintains raw egg inventory in house and in transit in order to accurately request volume needed for production.
  • Daily monitoring of Work in Progress
  • Manages (MRP) material master, material resource planning, inventory management, and bills of materials used in SAP. Submits Form 1300 to create new materials in SAP, and troubleshoots any issues that would occur within its daily activity.
  • Manages safety by maintaining compliance with safety guidelines internally and externally.
  • Assists with system implementation issues relative to the master scheduling process.
  • Supervises material receiving department.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • All food safety and human safety concerns need to be reported to appropriate personnel such as shift supervisor, QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply chain management or related field.

  • 1-3 years previous planning/inventory/purchasing experience
  • Superior capacity planning, scheduling, purchasing and leadership skills.

Skilled in proper food safety and security practices.

Logical thinker, with strong analytical skills, capable of making fact-based decisions.

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external resources.
Maintains highly accurate inventory records.
Strong computer skills, SAP, Excel, Word and Outlook.

Must be self-directed, detail oriented, reliable, and have strong initiative.
