Summary of work:

A Therapist at LSSI works within the office to provide therapy services for clients on both individual and groups basis. As a part of LSSI, our Therapists benefit from the overall support of LSSI’s systems, procedures, and structure, allowing them to focus on client care. Within the mission and impact of the agency, Therapists play a vital role in helping clients move toward family and financial stability and social, emotional, and spiritual wholeness. As a Medicaid partner, we are also able to work with clients who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in mental health counseling services. Essential duties and responsibilities:

•Provide direct counseling services to individuals, families, or groups suffering personal adjustment difficulties. These services will be provided in accord with the highest professional standards and within the realm of Christian principles and concern.

•Maintain accurate and secure records regarding services provided within agency requirements and standards.

•Be responsive to and participate in supervisory sessions as established by supervisor.

•Attend weekly Clinical Supervision.

•Attend department team/staff meetings and present cases, as requested

•Assist in providing referral information to families and additional services as needed if the program is full, or they do not meet the minimum program requirements at LSSI.

•Serve as a client advocate and respect all agency and program confidentiality policies.

•Maintain required face-to-face hours each week focused on client care, based on organization need and therapy modalities.

•Meet with Supervisor on a regular basis and consult with Supervisor on assigned cases.

•Report any case that may involve “imminent harm” or “threatened harm” to a supervisor immediately. Always intervene on behalf of the child when necessary.

•Report to Child Protection Services in cases where neglect and/or abuse are suspected.

•Attend all staff meetings, in-service training and other meetings as requested.

•Attend program related meetings in the community, as requested.

•Complete all paperwork required by agency within established program timeframe.

•Complete paperwork and follow agency procedures and accreditation guidelines while performing work duties. Help with reaccreditation process when assigned.

•Track balanced score card goals and turn in required reports to the program manager.

•Staff will be available by phone on an on-call basis to all assigned cases.

•Staff will respond to any client notification by client.

•Staff will make phone contact with all new referrals within 24 hours, and will meet face to face within 5 business days.

•Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

•Knowledge and understanding of the following topics:

  • Family of origin/intergenerational issues
  • Child abuse and neglect
  • Child and adult development
  • Motivational interviewing
  • How to implement use evidence-based practices

•Ability to work as a team member within a multifaceted organization

•Belief in helping clients change to increase the level of functioning and knowledge of strength based initiatives to bring about change

•Belief in the family preservation philosophy

•Skillful in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

•Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff.

•Understanding of and empathy for clients served, including those with differing cultural, racial or ethnic identity.

•Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities with strength in organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

•Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or clinical counseling required.

•2 years of related clinical experience providing individual and/or group therapy

•Active Clinical License issued by the Indiana Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counseling Board as: Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required.

•Willingness to complete EMDR training from an EMDRIA approved provider.

•Valid driver's license and car for business use as needed.

  • Minimum Auto Insurance Coverage Levels:
    • Bodily Injury Liability
    • $100,000 for any one person in any one accident
    • $300,000 for all persons in any one accident
    • Property Damage Liability
    • $100,000 for any one accident
