Job Summary:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be a leader with excellent communication, fundraising and management skills who can guide the organization to the next phase of its growth and impact. They will empower adults with disabilities and their families through advocacy, building independence and wellness.

Qualifications & Skills:

            Required:

    • 5+ years of professional experience in healthcare related discipline
    • Master’s degree in business, Public Administration, Special Education, Rehabilitation, or other Human Services related field.
    • 3+years as an Executive Director or other senior leadership role
    • Experience working with clients, families, and professionals in a team setting.
    • Ability to be an active listener with sensitivity to developmental disability issues.
    • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
    • Proven ability to create and execute a strategic vision.
    • Previous experience creating a coaching culture within an organization.
    • Complete integrity, honesty, and confidentiality
    • Outstanding decision-making skills and response to high pressure situations

            Preferred:

    • Residential care experience
    • Experience working with a Board of Directors
    • Fundraising experience

Role Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Strategic Vision and Organizational Oversight

  • Identifies with, shares in, and displays a commitment to the vision, mission, core values, and core virtues of ABLE, Inc.
  • Fully implement person-centered practices within the organization, expanding programs, developing new and diversified funding sources, and providing visionary leadership.
  • Responsible for the leadership, management, planning and policy implementation of the organization.
  • Collaborates across the entire organization to build an environment of collective responsibility and accountability.
  • Through exceptional communication, leads and motivates employees to yield high levels of employee engagement.

Partners with leadership team and board of directors to create long term planning for the organization, including the support and implementation of change management Initiatives.

 

  • Enhances and drives engagement by fostering a smooth function and efficient operation through the timely and effective resolution of grievances from residents, families, and/or staff.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources on staffing levels to ensure residents needs are met while adhering to budgetary requirements/fiscal health of the organization.
  • Creates an environment of trust and safety across the entire organization.
  • Executes strategies to optimize the organization.
  • Develops a high performing leadership team overseeing their performance and meeting with each individual monthly to assess the achievement of their goals and development.

Fundraising and Revenue Enhancement

  • Serves as the lead spokesperson for the organization, communicating effectively with all internal and external constituents.
  • Develops relationships across the community to further the mission and vision of the organization
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Development to create and participate in fundraising strategies.

Financial Management and Board Governance

  • Works closely with leadership to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions are being properly executed in accordance with best practices.
  • Oversees the continuous improvement of staff, systems, and environment through education and training opportunities.
  • Ensures expertise and effectiveness across operating platforms.
  • Provides advice, planning and research as requested by the Board of Directors.
  • Reports to the Board of Directors monthly on the status of the organization and its programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Continuing Education & Community Involvement

  • Attends conferences/workshops as needed to further develop person-centered practices and organizational effectiveness
  • Actively participates in the local communities to enhance the visibility of ABLE, Inc.

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and presentation skills).
