Quality Assurance Technician - 2nd Shift

Job Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for the completion of Quality Assurance checks in the plant including metal detection and various lab equipment - including product analytical equipment such as CEM. During any absence of the Quality Technician, the QAPS Manager shall perform or assign Quality Technician duties as needed.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Monitors products for quality and food safety parameters.
• Analyze information and make effective decisions to assure product safety and compliance.
• Serves as liaison with plant and management team with respect to product quality.
• Performs Analytical Testing on finished products daily and records detailed test data information for future references.
• Reports test result information to management and plant employees to assist in making processing adjustments in order to achieve "IN SPEC" finished products.
• Informs Quality Manager & General Manager if any sample is out of SPEC.
• Maintains lab, materials, and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Performs routine system checks and upkeep on lab equipment.
• Performs routine checks on metal detectors to ensure proper work function.
• Monitors and records/reports production activities and areas to assure product safety and quality compliance.
• Maintains complete legible paperwork on a daily basis.
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

• College degree preferred (BS in Chemistry, Agriculture, or related field).
• Laboratory experience a plus; understanding of Chemistry and/or Agriculture.
• Prior office experience a plus.
• Experience with Oracle, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint preferred.
• Work with management and regulatory environment.
• Highly organized; superior time management skills.
• Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
• Safety conscience; detail oriented; able to multi-task.
• Good computer skills.
• Must work well with others as a team to accomplish goals.
• Able to troubleshoot product and/or lab equipment if the need arises.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with or without direct supervision.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Frequently lifts up to 20 lbs.
• Occasionally push, pull, move, or lift 50 lbs.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a manufacturing facility which requires tolerance for wet and/or slippery floors and with high heat and/or cold temperatures.
