Maintenance Welder Fabricator

 

Position Description:

The Maintenance Welder Fabricator is responsible for performing welding and fabrication of maintenance projects, for new structures, and repairs; assist technicians for welding repairs.

Reports To:

Maintenance Supervisor

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment safety and its “Core Values”.
  • MIG, TIG and Stick welding when needed.
  • Expected to assemble a wide variety of structures from prints as well as from written and verbal instructions.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order welding supplies as necessary.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including but not limited to power sources, welding guns, torches, and plasma cutters.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
  • Complete projects on a timely matter and must be able to complete Work Orders properly.
  • Review Assignment prior to initial work is started.
  • Perform tasks of welding as needed.
  • Use of tools including but not limited to welding machine, angle grinder, die grinder, drill press, metal/wood saws, drills, hammer, wrenches, sockets, paint machine.
  • Drives forklift as required.
  • Operate Overhead cranes as required.
  • Perform maintenance on welding equipment to ensure its proper functioning.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Examine completed work for defects, and measure pieces with straightedges and templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or GM of Maintenance.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

We seek detailoriented, independent selfstarters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising grow achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Must be able to read prints and written instructions as well as follow verbal directions required to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Minimum two to four years of experience in welding fabrication of structural steel.
  • Must have verbal skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.
  • Able to MIG, TI & Stick Weld.
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) will be a plus.
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea.

 

Physical Involvement:

  • Must be able to perform tasks at heights.
  • Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.
  • Ability to work in a environmental that is often loud, and dusty.
  • Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers. Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day.
  • Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
