Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

Description

Chesterfield Township is recruiting General Labor/Mechanical Assistant/Grounds Maintenance Seasonal workers. Under direct supervision, an employee in this entry-level, seasonal position will perform a variety of manual, physical tasks; follow simple routines during the construction, repair, and maintenance of Township facilities; performs related duties as assigned.

Employees perform non-skilled general labor tasks in any of the following maintenance divisions of the Public Works or Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Divisions: Parks and ballfields, streets, water, sewer, refuse, fleet maintenance. The Township is looking for efficient, safety-minded, and enthusiastic candidates that have the ability to follow directions both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

Good communication skills, time management, and willingness to follow direction from staff to aid in the completion of assigned tasks.

Aid in the clean-up of work sites, general construction tasks, and grounds maintenance, using brooms, shovels, landscaping trimmers, small equipment, and other tools as needed.

Ability to work independent or with a team, communicate status of work progress.

Ability to prioritize tasks, use electronic devise to capture data, photos and time on task.

Operation of Township vehicles to and from job-sites.

Requirements:

High School Graduate or GED equivalent.

Minimum of 18 years of age with a valid Michigan Driver's License and a good driving record.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Good communication skills, time management, and willingness to follow direction from staff to aid in the completion of assigned tasks.

Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis; climb ladders to heights over 10 feet.

Performs work in various field conditions including, but not limited to, unpaved sites, dust, mud, as well as various environmental working conditions, including extreme temperatures, or inclement weather (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain, humidity).

Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
