Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer to join our team in one of the following offices: Cleveland, OH; Detroit, MI; Louisville, KY; or Lexington, KY to deliver I&C designs for water and wastewater projects to our clients in the Midwest. Depending on experience, the applicant may have the option to work in some or any of these locations with some remote work possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will develop I&C system designs for the water and wastewater industry with the potential for some Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming/ configuration work.
  • Candidate will write technical memoranda; develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system architecture drawings, and installation details; prepare instrumentation and control system specifications; prepare cost estimates for projects; review & approve documentation developed by contractors; and conduct factory testing, field acceptance testing, and startup of I&C systems. Must know how to use AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D or be willing to learn.
  • Qualified candidates will serve as the Lead Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer on projects for water and wastewater facilities. Responsibilities will include supervision and mentoring of entry-level staff and designers working on

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of Instrumentation and Controls Design experience.
  • BS or MS Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is desired.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Codes, and other related Codes is required.
  • Good verbal, writing and interpersonal skills are required for coordination with other disciplines, contractors, and clients.
  • Electrical experience is desired.
  • Control system software configuration/programming capability desired.
