Position Overview: As a Planner at SMTC, you'll play a crucial role in driving work orders and coordinating their execution within our manufacturing facility. Your responsibilities include ensuring the timely delivery of materials to support manufacturing operations in alignment with production schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and monitor the release of work orders to meet both internal and external demand while optimizing material and capacity utilization.
  • Manage the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to ensure materials are available on time and lot sizes are optimized.
  • Provide ship date information to management when needed and identify material issues affecting production schedules.
  • Prepare reports to communicate sales order status, production challenges, and inventory analysis. Act as a liaison between Procurement and Engineering to address Engineering changes and new product releases.
  • Process all orders and demand changes in MRP, communicating impacts to Planning Manager, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Management as necessary.
  • Assist the Program Manager in addressing and reconciling customer issues. Monitor, analyze, and report all status updates and obstacles affecting delivery schedules.
  • Offer support and guidance to the Production Control Supervisor and Production Supervisor to ensure timely completion and shipment of work-in-progress (WIP) orders.
  • Provide procurement with priorities for critical shortages that hinder on-time material availability, escalating issues to cross-functional teams and management when
  • Complete NPI requirements, review bill of material structures, and suggest needed changes for optimal material flow during production builds. Ensure NPI readiness across departments and align priorities with the Production Schedule.
  • Initiate replacement orders for lost, damaged, or discrepant items, or adjust sales orders as directed by the Program Manager. Analyze MRP for "what-if" scenarios, change impacts, and workarounds, communicating with relevant teams to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Support quick turn and expedite opportunities for internal and external customers.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience for the Planner:

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree and two (2) years of specialized training preferred, or 2-5 years equivalent experience.
  • A.P.I.C.S. certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in MRP principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; knowledge of MS Project is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Purchasing, Materials, and Operations processes and tools.
  • Strong decision-making skills and clear communication abilities to support business goals.
  • Self-starter with high initiative and a sense of urgency to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple objectives and priorities concurrently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
