Position: Survey Party Chief/Party Chief

Reports to: Chief of Survey and Project Surveyor

General Qualities:

- Is a proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example.

- Is capable of effectively managing assigned staff and being respected by them.

- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

- Knowledge of the many forms of land surveying projects performed by KSE.

Technical Responsibilities:

- Must possess general knowledge of land surveying principles and practices.

- Must be able to perform under the of the Project Surveyor and coordinate the activities of the field crew.

- Performs duties, including overseeing the effective performance and safety of all members of the field crew.

- Use of equipment and safety procedures.

- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with our staff and the public.

- Must be able to gather field survey data using both conventional Total Station with data collectors and Global Navigational Satellite Systems (GNSS) methodologies.

- Responsible for set-up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment, prepare field notes and sketches, and perform field surveying for roadways, railroads, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying and construction stakes.

- Locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, rights-of-way, monuments, concerns, boundaries, and property lines.

- Responsible for moderately strenuous tasks, such as lifting and carrying instruments weighing up to 50 pounds over rough terrain, and may also require clearing vegetation, dig holes, pound stakes with a sledgehammer, and operate hand and electronic tools.

Administrative Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the care of assigned equipment (instruments, van, etc.)

- Familiar with all company policies and procedures, their implementation, and compliance.

- Completes time sheet on a daily basis.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

- High School Diploma.

- Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
