ABOUT THIS ROLE

The role of Driver II with Wawona Frozen Foods is to complete assigned duties safely and efficiently. Taking direction from the Purchasing Manager, they will operate propane, liquified gas, and/or electric powered industrial truck equipped with RF scanner. A Driver II will also use computer and lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or material. A Class C driver's license and a clean driving record is required, as well as 3 years of driving experience.

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods' Safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
  • Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
  • Compliance with all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
  • Empowered to notify and/or act in response to any issues or concerns within the scope of work.
  • Wear all the required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services to our customers. Arrives to meetings and appointments on time.
  • Works safely in accordance with company's safety program requirements.
  • Completes lift truck inspection and properly fills out and turns in a lift truck inspection sheet before driving a power lift.
  • Completes a trailer inspection for trailers that are being shipped or received with finished and raw material and properly fills out and turns in an inspection form.
  • Sets up orders and consolidates pallets in warehouse for maximum capacity.
  • Reports any product damage or product shortage to supervisor.
  • Conducts monthly inventory cycle counts.
  • Drive flatbed to transport production materials from off-site location.
  • Interacts with other departments for requests of samples or thawing of product.
  • Reports any unsafe acts or hazards to supervisor.
  • Operate forklift to load and unload the truck.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor or manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Must at least have 3 years of driving experience.
  • Must have a current Class C driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Flatbed truck driving experience preferred.
  • Forklift operator certification preferred.
  • Strong listening and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Computer skills preferred.

LOCATION

  • This position will work out of our Cedar or Alluvial location.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise and in cold temperatures.
  • Stand and walk, feel, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally requested to sit and talk or hear.
  • A fast-paced environment that requires high attention to details and minimal down time.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work flexible/varying schedules to support the team, customers, and deadlines.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and ability to see all colors.
  • Wear appropriate personal protection equipment and adhere to dress code as outlined for working in a food manufacturing facility.
