Position: Camp Unit Leader

Location: Camp Graham, Henderson NC

Duration: Summer 2024


Day in the Life:

Supervising Campers and Staff: Be their guide, friend, and mentor in their living unit.

Planning & Teaching: Coordinate and lead activities that inspire personal growth and daily living skills.

Creating Unforgettable Memories: Ensure our campers have the summer of their dreams!

Join our team for a fun and rewarding summer! We are offering all employees the opportunity to earn a $500 BONUS this summer. If hired, you will receive a $250 MID-SUMMER BONUS at the end of June and a $250 COMPLETION BONUS at the end of summer camp. We are also offering a $100 REFERRAL BONUS so tell your friends about this wonderful opportunity.

Requirements:

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment Visas at this time.

  • Preferred to be 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR.
  • Ability to interact with all age levels.
  • Prior camp experience preferred or working with youth.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understand the developmental needs of youth.
  • Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in program areas designated camp program areas.
  • Commitment to the aims and purpose of the Girl Scout movement.

Physical Aspects of the Job:

  • Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
  • Endurance includes prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities.
  • Willing to live in a camp setting and work nontraditional hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, etc.
  • Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
  • Ability to observe staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers
