SUMMARY

The responsibility of the Team Lead is to lead Production employees by example while overseeing the meeting of goals set for production lines. Daily responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work, and participating in rewarding good work and elevating disciplinary needs to Supervisors. Team Leads will also be responsible for addressing complaints and elevating personnel issues to the HR department, troubleshooting, supporting safety and continuous improvement. Team Leads will also fill in on the production line when absenteeism occurs at a level that threatens meeting production goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understands Safety, Quality, SINEW, Cost, People performance objectives
  • Collects, documents and reports data to Production Supervisors
  • Presents Team Brief and Stretch It Out exercise methods
  • Allocates daily tasks, relays objectives and motivates team to achieve the goals
  • Monitors performance of production personnel.
  • Audits Processes in production area (5s Audits, 3P audits, etc)
  • Completes daily shift start up and shut down checklists
  • Coordinates First Piece Inspection Sheet and all other production related forms
  • Train new assemblers as they come to the production line on the building of HVAC units according to standardized work instructions, utilizing the end of the line testers and packaging of completed units


OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of safety and quality practices and expectations.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including: Word, Excel, Access and JDE.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and communicate work instructions.
  • Ability to visually inspect parts prior to assembly and units at work stations.
  • Ability to operate label printers.
  • Ability to successfully pass classroom and production line training and certification testing.
  • Strong problem solving skills as well as good communication skills required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school education or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Basic reading and math
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of computers, software and database management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed and may require walking primarily on a level surface for a significant amount of the day (>8 hours). This position requires frequent reaching with occasional reaching above shoulder heights. May be occasionally required to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required.

This position may also require excellent eyesight to identify colors, depth, and dimension in the day-to-day work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The primary work environment provides for co-worker interactions, ambient room temperature, excellent lighting, and traditional assembly line production equipment as found in a typical manufacturing environment. The area is free from oils and other disagreeable elements. Certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, gloves, and mandatory hearing protection. Safety glasses and closed toed and closed heel shoes are required in all manufacturing areas.
