JOB TITLE: Clinic RN/LPN

M-F (4 day/week) 8:30 - 5:00 p.m.


DEPARTMENT: Belleville Medical Clinic


JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Responsible To: Clinic Nurse Manager

Responsible For: Does not supervise other employees


Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with clinic and hospital departments and medical staff.


JOB SUMMARY:


Responsible for placing patients in rooms; to assist with procedures, treatments and examinations, under direction of a licensed physician; recording vital statistics, obtaining nature of reason presenting for office visit, complete basic medical record tasks; including entering patient medical and social history, medications, prepare prior authorizations, communicate/relay medical information to patients and other medical facilities for patient care, prepare and administer medications to patients; including injections, sends physician orders to other departments or facilities, send prescription requests per physician orders, responds to all incoming patient calls; interprets patient’s symptoms and communicates them to the physician, collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individual patient care plans, maintains adequate supplies and stocking exam rooms.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: up to 6 months in a similar or related healthcare position preferred
  • Education: Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Kansas. BLS is required. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Other Skills: Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs. Knowledge of EMR systems. Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasionally lifts or carries items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Requires full range of body motion
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
  • Vision and hearing to normal range
  • Exposure to communicable diseases
  • Push/pull patients in wheelchairs (up to approximately 250 pounds).
  • Assist patients on and off the procedure table.
  • Daily lifts supplies/equipment



JOB DUTIES:

  • Basic knowledge of medical software/computer
  • Make appointments, as needed
  • Prepare clean and organized treatment or examination patient rooms
  • Assist with office surgeries, under the supervision of a physician
  • Assist with examination of patients, under the supervision of a physician
  • Assist with treatment of patients, under the supervision of a physician
  • Perform select clinical duties
  • Vitals/Blood pressure checks, weights, oximeter readings
  • Complete and enter patient medical, social history and current medications into the EMR
  • Prepare and dispense or inject medication to patients
  • Dressing changes under the supervision of a physician
  • Responds to incoming patient phone calls, interprets patient symptoms and communicates them to the physician
  • Returns patient phone calls, providing the best care and advice per physician
  • Orders necessary procedures, treatments, prescriptions per physician
  • Collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individual patient care plans
  • Schedule outpatient procedures and complete necessary paperwork
  • Prepare and submit patient prior authorizations, including medications
  • Document communication with patients in charts
  • Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Maintains clinic compliance requirements at all times
  • Maintain and stock patient room supplies
  • In-Service, as required by Republic County Hospital and Belleville Medical Clinic
