Job description summary:

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled materials expeditor. This position is tasked with assisting the materials manager with the daily activities in the materials department as well as coordinating and communicating daily expedited activities with those in other departments. Additionally, the materials expeditor will perform various clerical duties and functions in support of the materials department.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

  • Perform routine follow-ups on shortages and communicate with appropriate personnel in the materials, production, and supply chain departments
  • Perform follow-ups and expedite past-due orders
  • Perform detailed analysis for future deliveries of raw materials to ensure they align with customer requirements
  • Report the detailed analysis for future deliveries of raw materials in the materials meeting as required
  • Issue material requisitions for requirements that fall outside of the established Kanban supermarket levels
  • Work with the production team, shop floor planners, materials planner, and the PFEP coordinator to assist with the establishment of current and future production levels
  • Coordinate supply chain-related activity to all departments to ensure information is shared clearly and accurately
  • Support the materials department in maintaining materials ISO requirements
  • Perform detailed analysis of inventory for future product lines and/or product lines that are going obsolete
  • Perform detailed analysis to track inventory levels of all parts, casting, and forgings to prevent shortages
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations
  • Constantly strives to meet or exceed company goals

Experience & skills:

  • Previous lead or supervisory experience is a plus
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency is a must
  • Formally trained in the principles and methodology of Lean enterprise
  • Experience in Kanban pull systems is preferred
  • Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments and adapt to changing conditions
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
  • Able to make recommendations and effectively participate in the implementation of company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of manufacturing functions, including methods, processing, tooling, work standards, plant layout, and cost controls and reduction
