Job Summary

Laundry Aides are responsible for ensuring a consistent supply of clean, neat, and quality linens and clothing, with a particular focus on the laundering of linens to ensure sanitation and hygiene standards are met per health department standards. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the residential facility to make sure that it meets any housekeeping sanitation requirements and provides a comfortable space for residents and employees

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for sorting and washing soiled laundry; loading and unloading machines; shaking, ironing, folding, sorting, and tracking clean laundry; disposing of unusable items and reporting needs for replacement; storing and securing supplies and equipment; and cleaning the laundry area
  2. Assign housekeeping and laundry staff their duties and inspect work to ensure standards of cleanliness and proper sanitation are met.
  3. Perform cleaning duties to support staff and in cases of emergency or staff shortage.
  4. Maintain assigned facilities as prescribed (includes: sweeping and mopping floors, dusting common areas, cleaning dry erase/chalkboards, cleaning furniture, toilet fixtures, basins, mirrors, lavatories, classrooms and offices)
  5. Check stocking levels of cleaning supplies and replace when appropriate.
  6. Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related.
  7. Sort, wash, load, and unload laundry.
  8. Make beds, change linens and tide up rooms.
  9. Iron clothing items.
  10. Use any cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and other cleaning tools.
  11. Empty trash cans and bins and recycle paper receptors. Removes other designated trash.
  12. Replenish dispensers needed (includes paper towels, toilet tissue, trash can liners and hand soap).
  13. Perform specialized/deep cleaning.
  14. Notify superiors on any damages, deficits and disturbances.
  15. Maintain supply closets stocked and in orderly manner.
  16. Respond to handle all emergency issues.
  17. Perform cleanliness inspections.
  18. Other task and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Level: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience as Housekeeper.
  • 1 year as Laundry Attendant or relevant position.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Must be able to work any shift between 6:30 am to 7:00 pm, and available all days of the week. Will have 40 hours assigned weekly.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with a variety of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Ability to perform all duties as required with or without an accommodation.

Working Conditions/ Physical Effort

Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Evening and weekend work are requirements of the position as necessary. Regular computer work is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able to work on a ladder. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
